In rural India, agriculture is still the mainstay for income and occupation for villages. However, due to the pressure on land and uncertainty, especially for small and marginal farmers, agriculture is not the only income source. Similarly, for many landless households, income from working in the field is not sufficient to meet their financial burden. Consequently, a large part of the rural population gets involved in other activities. Most poor families require 3-4 different income sources to get out of poverty forcing everyone in the family to work.
